David Shapiro
David Shapiro is the founder of David Shapiro Fine Art, a New York-based art appraisal and advisory firm. He is a Certified Member of the Appraisers Association of America with a specialty in postwar and contemporary art and a Committee Member of the NY Metro chapter of the Private Risk Management Association. Mr. Shapiro appraises art for purposes including insurance, tax, and collateral loans. As an advisor, he facilitates purchases and sales of modern and contemporary art.
Mr. Shapiro has lectured on the art market and art valuation for institutions including ArtTable, DMINTI, the New Art Dealers Alliance, and Sotheby’s Institute of Art. His article, “The Dynamics of Valuing Emerging Art and Artists” was published in the Digital Journal of Advanced Appraisal Practice, and he has been a guest on the “Private Risk and Resilience Podcast.”
